In The Region: After seven weeks of testimony and seven days of jury deliberation, the verdict is in on the corruption case of longtime Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and his co-defendant Michael Gabor. WKSU's Vivian Goodman spoke with Mark Urycki about the verdict. |
Because Dimora’s attorneys said he needed to remain close for further legal procedures, prosecutors suggested several Cuyahoga County jails to the judge. One of them is in Bedford Heights, where Dimora grew up and became mayor.
Dimora was found not guilty on one charge involving moving the bill for his wife's birthday party from at Landerhaven to his campaign.
Michael Gabor's not guilty stems from a count involving paying Frank Russo to get a raise for an employee.
The jury has not been dismissed by Judge Lioi, and must report back at 9 a.m. on Tuesday to decide on another matter.
Both Dimora and Gabor have had their bond revoked and been jailed. |
