Nordonia levy passes
Fifth time helps Northfield, Macedonia and Sagamore Hills' school district escape threat of state takeover

Nordonia Hills passed a levy last night -- it's fifth attempt in two years.  Had it failed, it faced a state takeover.But the 6-mill levy passed 56-44 percent.  Ken Martin was among the 56 percent.

“I don't want to penalize the students.  It's gotten to the point where if the funding isn't available, they're going to drastically curtail the opportunity of a student to learn.  Because they're not going to have enough teachers in the classroom.  And a lot of programming, which is very important, is going to be eliminated.”

Without the levy, the district had said it would lay off 20 more teachers and cut at least an hour from the school day.
