Government Thursday, September 8, 2011 Ohio lawmaker questions green energy mandate A Republican senator says its hurting consumers, but environmentalists disagree by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT BILL COHEN |
 Reporter Bill Cohen | | |
 | | State Senator Kris Jordan | | Courtesy of State of Ohio | Three years ago, Ohio legislators passed a new law, requiring that the state’s electric companies get a growing chunk of their power every year from renewable energy. The mandate says that by 2025, that chunk must grow to at least 12 and a half percent. Now, though, one republican state senator is calling on his fellow lawmakers to wipe out the mandate. He says he’s doing it for consumers. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports. |
