High tech inspires haute couture
Kent State Fashion students employ digital textile technology to realize their visions

Kent State University's J.R. Campbell and Vincent Quevado were awarded "International Artist of the Year” at the 2010 International Fashion Art Biennale in Seoul, Korea. The collaborative piece titled "DMZ" represents the tension between North and South Korea.

Kent State's Fashion School was recently ranked third in the nation and 13th in the world. A key factor in the school's success has been advanced technology. Seven graduating seniors showed how they use it this week in Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese government.

Kent State University student Vanecia Kirkland is one of seven fashion design students who  showed work from their senior collections during China’s 2011 Fashion Week in Beijing.
J.R. Campbell, Kent State's Fashion School director and Vincent Quevedo, associate professor of fashion design, collaborated to make this non-wearable piece honored at the 2010 International Fashion Art Biennale in Seoul, Korea.

Seven fashion students from Kent State University took their designs overseas this week. Bethany Clark, far right, showed her collection just before leaving for China Fashion Week.
The digital inkjet printer in the TechStyle Lab in Rockwell Hall was used to create the specific design for "DMZ."
J.R. Campbell and Vincent Quevedo stretch a part of the design that was showcased in Korea in November. The innovative design garnered the pair the "International Artist of the Year" award.
