Mentor woman, 22, aims to make history with cross-Atlantic row

Listener Comments:

Dear Amanda; Thank you for that interview with Sam Williams. Those were good questions. Katie is fortunate to have a friend like Sam who understands what she is experiencing. I admire her courage. Good luck Katie. Alfred

Amanda, Thanks for the live interview of Sam at Katie's halfway point. As an ocean rower himself, his insights about her "ups and downs" are thought provoking and motivating to all. She has had incredible impact on the many Rotary friends she is meeting on three continents starting in Chagrin Falls, then in Dakar, Senegal and soon in Cayenne, French Guiana. Additionally almost 1600 people are following her progress electronically. All are impacted when we reflect on the fact that her 70-80 day solo ocean row is not for herself. Her objective is to raise awareness of the billion people who don't have safe drinking water. To date she has raised over $50,000 for safe drinking water projects in many countries. Her long term vision and daily stamina demonstrates her commitment to Rotary's motto of "service about self."
