A movie maker who has a history with NE Ohio underdogs is at it again
Actor-producer Corbin Bernsen, who starred in the Major League movies, wants to help the Soap Box Derby.

Corbin Bernsen came to Akron to get a close up look at Derby Downs,the operations of the All American Soap Box Derby, and to get a feel for the community where his movie will take place.

Corbin has written a screenplay about a boy who saves the Derby, and hopes that the movie he wants to make from that script can help save the race in real life.

Away on his run Bernsen steers for the track where the All American Soap Box Derby champions are decided.
All American Soap Box Derby board president Bill Evans and Corbin Bernsen walk the Derby Downs track discussing its possible use in the movie Bernsen is planning.

The history of the Derby is something Bernsen says he needs to consider for the film.  Bill Evans, Derby CEO Jim Huntsman, and the Director Track and Quality Control Ed Delferraro show him some of the winning cars stored at Derby Downs.
Championship cars stored at Derby Downs represent winners from ever generation of Derby participants.
Derby board president Bill Evans is actively seeking new sponsors and partners for the Derby which has no national sponsorship at this time.  That's something Corbin Bernsen hopes his movie can change.
Jim Hunstman and Ed Delferraro take Corbin Bernsen on a tour of shop facilities at Derby Downs to show  the movie maker how derby cars are created .
Derby Downs has extensive workshops that are used to train and assist Derby participants.  After touring the facilities Crobin Bernsen says he may be able to use the building and campus of Derby Downs  to stage the production of his movie in Akron.
Corbin Bernsen, Jim Huntsman and Ed Delferraro load the car Bernsen used to make his own test run of Derby Downs,  Bernsen said he was so impressed by the experience that he is going to build a car with his eleven year old son and come back for a run at Derby Downs.
