Government Tuesday, November 3, 2009 Cleveland mayor Frank Jackson re-elected by a large margin
by WKSU's KEVIN NIEDERMIER |
 Reporter Kevin Niedermier | | |
Cleveland voters have overwhelmingly elected Mayor Frank Jackson to a second term.
Jackson easily defeated his challenger, former city councilman Bill Patmon. Jackson ran on his record of keeping the city's budget balanced without layoffs while other big cities are struggling with finances. During his victory speech, Jackson said he will not stop to savor his win. |
Jackson says the next four years will be as challenging as the first four. In Cleveland's City Council races, Third Ward Councilman Zack Reed is the likely winner in the restructured Ward Two, finishing well ahead of political new-comer, Charlene Laster. Ward Two is one of two new wards formed after council was reduced from 21 to 19 wards. In the newly formed Ward 14, Councilman Brian Cummings more narrowly defeated former Ohio Communist Party President Rick Nagin. |
