Ohio starts new amnesty program for cosmetologists
State Cosmetology board starting program to help cosmetologists that let their license lapse to get back into the business
by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT BILL COHEN

Reporter
Bill Cohen

Over the years, we've seen amnesty programs for all kinds of people - draft dodgers, tax scofflaws, and folks who have overdue library books. Now, there's a new group of Ohioans who are being offered amnesty: cosmetologists. More specifically, cosmetologists who've let their professional license lapse. Kevin Miller is the head of the State Cosmetology Board.

Miller says former cosmetologists who want to get back into the business without having to re-take the licensing exam should get in tough with his board by phone or over the Internet.

Listener Comments:

I am interested in reinstating my license,I have been a stay at home mom of eight and could not afford to keep my unused license up, I need to go back to work now but can not afford to pay to reinstate it. What if anything can I do? I have not really stopped cutting hair(lots of family members) and feel my ability is not lacking.

I would like to get my hair license back due to them lapsing. How do I start the process?
