Apollo's Fire: Folk meets Baroque
Early music ensemble explores old-time American tunes
by WKSU's JEFF ST. CLAIR

Morning Edition Host
Jeff St. Clair

Hammer dulcimer player Tina Bergmann with Apollo's Fire
A group that's known for its informed takes on Handel and Bach embarks on a journey into old-time Appalachian music for the first time. Jeannette Sorrell and Apollo's Fire will add hammered dulcimer to harpsichord, cello, and violin for a union of folk and baroque in a countryside concert series this summer.

A closer listen reveals that deep down the styles aren't all that different.
