Mozart's opera "The Marriage of Figaro" opens Monday night and good luck if you haven't got your ticket. The best seats are already sold out. This will be the first time the Cleveland Orchestra has performed a fully-staged opera at Severance Hall in more than three decades:

It took about six weeks for all the costumes, sets, and props to arrive by ship from Zurich.
Excitement's been building at Severance Hall about the first fully-staged opera in decades.
The best tickets for next week's four performances have already sold out.
There isn't much room at Severance Hall for opera sets and furniture. They had to store some of it in the musician's lunch room.

The Zurich Opera performed Figaro in January and then packed everything up to send to Severance Hall
A special room has been created at Severance Hall just for the make-up and wigs.
The packing crates share the same space as the singers' dressing rooms. Curtains provide privacy.
A few jokes about horse's posteriors have been prompted by these wooden visitors.
Severance Hall has always had an opera pit. Only half the musicians are required for the opera so it's not too tight a fit.
Rehearsals started a week before opening night.
Stage Director Timo Schlussel hopes to be able to see some of the Cleveland International Film Festival while he's in Cleveland.
