Science and Technology Wednesday, January 21, 2009 Cleveland riverbank at risk of collapse Landslide could disrupt industry by WKSU's KEVIN NIEDERMIER |
 Reporter Kevin Niedermier | | |
| The Army Corps of Engineers is deciding how to prevent a Cuyahoga River bank near downtown Cleveland from collapsing.
|
| The slope above Irishtown Bend on the westside of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland's industrial flats has been inching toward the water's edge for the last two decades.
The movement caused a nearby street to split open...and the instability scrapped plans to
put up an apartment building at the site. David Schulenberg of the Army Corps of Engineers has studied the bank for nearly a year. He says there's no imminent threat of a landslide, but something must be done.
