As a black person myself, one who strongly advocates self resposibility a la Bill Cosby, i feel that its not Barack Obama's job to remedy the African American situation in America. He can only do so much, furthermore he is the president (or hopes to be) of the ENTIRE country. Not just black people. At the very least him being in office is a huge leap in and of itself. But please dont unfairly portray him as the black superhero that will fix all of our problems in this country. Posted by: Frank W. (San Diego, CA) on September 4, 2008 4:09PM

As a black man and a lawyer, I am very sure you are very much aware of the troubles the AA communities are facing every day here in the city of Chicago, like racial profiling, homelessness, drug trafficking, prostitution, their lack of access to quality education and the harsher sentences they receive whenever they are stupid enough to commit a crime.
WHAT ARE YOU AS A BLACK PRESIDENT IF ELECTED GOING TO DO FOR THESE PEOPLE? Posted by: mary (illinois) on September 4, 2008 3:41PM
Mr. Obama - I want to know what you are going to do,I don't want lip service either, what are you going to do for the disbled and retired on fixed income in the poverty level? This is extremely important to my husband and I? We know many people in our situation here in Crescent City, Ca.
