Cuyahoga County in damage control after federal corruption raid

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

Cuyahoga County government officials are re-grouping after yesterday's federal crackdown on alleged county corruption. On Monday, F.B.I. and I.R.S. agents raided county offices, private businesses and the homes of Commissioner Jimmy Dimora and Auditor Frank Russo. Today County Commissioner Peter Lawson-Jones held a press conference to help rebuild public trust, and sooth county employees shell-shocked by the raid.

Listener Comments:

and dempsey I think whose clients were also dissatisfied project bidders, and members of the same faction of pay-to-players Ohio is alas often infested with. Notable among the items seized-a football jersey, a picture of Clevland taken from the air, a powerpoint presentation[whether ever viewed or not is unclear] and some food receipts.
sorry for the split post, if there is a character/word limit it is usually advisable to list it :)

The operation was bungled by the Feds from the getgo. They interfered with the operation of a duly-elected local government for an appalling and illicit "fishing expedition" apparently based on grousing from disappointed job seekers and bidders on projects. They got a judge to sign a badly-designed "boilerplate" warrant who had been affiliated with a faction of the Cuy. Cty. Dem party that Dimora's faction supplanted/deposed in a reform move in 1994, whose husband worked with a law firm [Squires Sanders

...rebuild public trust. Now there is a real insult to any intelligent citizen! What has govt done to EARN trust? But they have done every corrupt and nefarious scheme imaginable to make us DISTRUST them. Elected officials have but one goal and that is to STAY in POWER so they wield the Power of the Pursestrings and once again - follow the money. Gus Hall, former Communist once said that politicians will flee enraged crowds intent on retribution for stealing their lives and freedom. It may not be too far from the truth. But even tyrants learn to fear REAL POWER - THE POWER OF PEOPLE WITH JUST CAUSE!
