Government Tuesday, January 15, 2008 County sells Downtown Cleveland's historic
Ameritrust Tower
by WKSU's KEVIN NIEDERMIER |
 Reporter Kevin Niedermier | | |
| Cuyahoga County taxpayers and historic building fans can breath a sigh of relief. Today an acceptable bid was made to buy Downtown Cleveland's Ameritrust Tower. In 2005, the county bought the property with plans to demolish the honey-combed building and construct a facility to house all county offices and agencies. But that plan became too expensive. Now, the architecturally important high-rise designed by Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer will stay...and downtown gets a new
mixed-use development.
