Southern Stark County landfill owners fight to stay open Thursday, December 13, 2007

It is sad when persons in power lose their ability to remain objective. Understandably, politicians, local government officials and agencies are extremely taxed by the constant demands made by the public to 'make it go away'.
Responding to a constant barrage of "Henny Penny, the sky is falling" emotionally charged complaints and accusations has to be exhaustive.
However, it doesn't provide an excuse or a basis for NOT keeping a true objective mind when reviewing data, facts and efforts when considering whether an entity is entitled to continue operating and doing business.
Officials of the Stark County Health Department and Ohio EPA appear to have taken a step towards the "Henny Penny" mentality camp by making statements alluding to their intentions to NOT issue the 2008 operating license to Countywide.
It would serve the interests of all involved if our government officials, health officials, local bureaucrats and politicians would step off their 'stumps'and back into their roles of being the stabling hand that establishes objective reasons and makes informed decisions based on sound research, data and facts.
