Jerry Lee Lewis Honored as American Master by Rock Hall Wednesday, November 7, 2007
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has had eleven artists in its America Masters Series. But this week is the first time the Master will be there himself. 72 year old Jerry Lee Lewis is getting the academic treatment with presentations talks all this week and a day-long conference on Saturday. The week ends with the usual tribute concert, but this time, Lewis will be participating. WKSU's Mark Urycki reports:

I remember the exact moment when I heard the first 4 bars of "Whole Lot of Shakin' Goin' On" in 1957 at the at the age of not quite 13 and I thought "What the hell is that'. It was an epiphany in my life and only recently was I able to tell the man that he had changed my life. He smiled and said "Thank you" and shook my hand with a firm grip. Jerry Lee's first public appearance was 1949.That means next year 2009 will be SIXTY years and he is still rocking!
