Health and Medicine Wednesday, September 12, 2007 Deputies Plead Not Guilty in Death of Mentally-Ill Inmate
by WKSU's KAREN SCHAEFER |
 Reporter Karen Schaefer | | |
| Five Summit County sheriff's deputies pleaded not guilty today in the death of a jail inmate who died in custody last year. The 28-year old Akron man's death was ruled a homicide by the coroner who found he died of asphyxiation from multiple forms of restraint. The county sheriff says the inmate was mentally ill and his deputies don't have the training they need to deal with that. |
