Hometown Rock Star Opens Restaurant in Downtown Akron

Rock Hall of Fame Member Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders Cuts the Ribbon Saturday for "VegeTerranean"

The Akron Civic Theater's ceiling will not be the only part of it filled with stars this weekend. Chrissie Hynde and Friends including the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis are donating their talents to a benefit show Saturday night. For Hynde, it's part of a much larger investment she hopes will rock Akron's world.

Executive Chef Scott Jones and Vegeterranean co-owner Dan Duplain in front of the restaurant which is still under construction. It will have a sleek European design and include a cocktail bar, coffee shop, bakery and outdoor patios.
This sign in the Northside District advertises not only Chrissie Hynde's new restaurant but also a day-long celebration of Akron's downtown this Saturday, including a foodfest, artwalk and tours of new housing.
