Issue 18: Cuyahoga County's Proposed Cigarette Tax for the Arts

| Cuyahoga County voters are being asked again to approve a tax to support the arts. Two-and-a-half years ago, voters rejected a property tax levy to bolster arts organizations. On Tuesday, they will decide on Issue 18, which would add a 30-cent tax to a pack of cigarettes. Backers say their message is the same as it was in 2004...passage will help the local economy by keeping the arts strong. But smokers say they are unfairly being singled out.
