Watershed Groups Report on Progress in Cuyahoga River Cleanup

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

The Cuyahoga River is infamous around the world because it caught fire about 35 years ago. That burning was the impetus for the federal Clean Water Act. And today the Cuyahoga is much cleaner than it was in the 1960s and 70s. But in many sections, it still doesn't meet the goals of the Clean Water Act. About one-hundred people leading the efforts to improve the quality of the River are meeting this week in Cuyahoga Falls to coordinate the next phase of clean up efforts.
