African Americans in Northeast Ohio react to the election of America's first Black President.

The word most Americans use to describe the election of the first African American president has been "historic." Yesterday (Thurs) WKSU went back to some of the local barbershops and other businesses we've been visiting throughout the year to capture some reaction. This time Vivian Goodman focused on African Americans.

Obama campaigns on energy; audience focuses on more

Barack Obama's trip to Youngstown this (Tuesday) morning was billed as a town hall on energy. But the 2 thousand people packed into the Austintown Fitch High School gym were as focused on jobs, education, Iraq and even term limits as they were on energy.

Sometimes it weaves in with other issues like healthcare. But the economy is far and away the top concern when talk turns to politics at northeastern Ohio beauty and barber shops and salons. In our occasional series, Campaign Clips, WKSU reporters visited shops in suburban Stark County, Akron, downtown Cleveland and South Euclid to talk politics and governance.

There's something about a barbershop that lends itself to talk. ... And a beauty shop ... Even a quick cuts.
