In The Region:

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan campaigned in Ohio today for the fifth time since  Friday.  Ryan was joined by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for a rally at Baldwin Wallace University.  Rice said the nation is at a crossroad, and this election is about turning it around.  Ryan says President Obama has only one new idea, and that is raising taxes.

He said he’d cut the deficit in half in four years. Wrong. He said he’d bring people together to solve the country’s biggest problems. Look, the other day on, TV, the president said “I can’t change Washington from inside.” Isn’t that why we elect presidents?  All I have to say is if he can’t change Washington, then I say it’s time that we change presidents and elect Mitt Romney, the next President of the United States.

The Obama administration says Republicans in Washington have refused efforts at bi-partisan solutions to the nation’s problems.

After the rally, Ryan and Rice visited the Cleveland Browns’ practice facility, at the Baldwin Wallace campus.  Rice is a long-time Browns fan.

From Cleveland, Ryan went on to a fund raiser and rally in Columbus.

President Obama is holding a rally tonight  at Ohio University in Athens.

Listener Comments:

"Ryan says Obama makes excuses, not progress" - he also misrepresents the truth/during his debate he stated AARP supports Obamacare, but fails to mention the nasty details, as in many cases when Obama doesn't care about the truth, he just wants what is "acceptable" to him.
Of course AARP supports Obamacare they are government approved crony capitalists – they received numerous special deals in 2007(1), and the present situation is not much different. AARP is exempt from rate review rules while other agencies are required to explain rate increases(2)AARP, which paid much of the $121 million for pro-PPACA ads, only has to pay out 65% of Medigap premiums for benefits, while Medicare Advantage plans have to pay out 85%.

2. - http://dailycaller.com Politics - AARP latest to receive Obamacare break 05/19/2011 - “...the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rate review rules, which it finalized on Thursday, exempt “Medigap” policy providers, like the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), from oversight when such providers increase payment rates for their supplemental insurance plans...For example, some beneficiaries enrolled in the United of Omaha Life Insurance Company will see their Medigap premiums increase by approximately 40 percent between 2010 and 2011”
- politisite.com - Presidential Debate Transcript: Denver, Colo. Oct. 3 2012 – Full text - “...OBAMA: And then what you’ve got is folks like my grandmother at the mercy of the private insurance system precisely at the time when they are most in need of decent health care. So, I don’t think vouchers are the right way to go. And this is not my own — only my opinion. AARP thinks that the — the savings that we obtained from Medicare bolster the system, lengthen the Medicare trust fund by eight years. Benefits were not affected at all. And ironically, if you repeal Obamacare, and I have become fond of this term, “Obamacare,” if you repeal it, what happens is those seniors right away are going to be paying $600 more in prescription care. They’re now going to have to be paying copays for basic checkups that can keep them healthier. And the primary beneficiary of that repeal are insurance companies that are estimated to gain billions of dollars back when they aren’t making seniors any healthier. And I don’t think that’s the right approach when it comes to making sure that Medicare is stronger over the long term.
ROMNEY: What I support is no change for current retirees and near-retirees to Medicare. And the president supports taking $716 billion out of that program.
LEHRER: And what about the vouchers?...ROMNEY: So that’s — that’s number one.
Number two is for people coming along that are young, what I do to make sure that we can keep Medicare in place for them is to allow them either to choose the current Medicare program or a private plan. Their choice.
They get to choose — and they’ll have at least two plans that will be entirely at no cost to them. So they don’t have to pay additional money, no additional $6,000. That’s not going to happen. They’ll have at least two plans.
ROMNEY: And by the way, if the government can be as efficient as the private sector and offer premiums that are as low as the private sector, people will be happy to get traditional Medicare or they’ll be able to get a private plan...”

"The Obama administration says Republicans in Washington have refused efforts at bi-partisan solutions to the nation’s problems. " - In 2008 Obama promised to bring consensus between the two parties - he failed. Yes, he makes excuses, not progress. Obama will accept any idea that is "acceptable"/what Obama wants - no Republican voted for the healthscare tax, but this administration forced the healthscare insult on America/many do -not- want government bureaucrats making personal decisions, and the Republicans' are accused of not co-operating with the Democrats.
