Thursday, May 3, 2012 New poll shows dead heat in Ohio presidential race Quinnipiac: Obama 44%, Romney 42% by WKSU's STATEHOUSE CORRESPONDENT BILL COHEN This story is part of a special series.

 Reporter Bill Cohen | | |
| As President Obama prepares for a campaign visit to Columbus on Saturday, the presidential race in Ohio remains too close to call. That’s the bottom line of the latest independent public opinion poll. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen has the numbers. |
President Barack Obama 44 percent. Republican Challenger Mitt Romney 42 percent. That’s the breakdown among likely Ohio voters at the Quinnipiac University poll has found. And since the poll has a margin of error of 3 points, that means it shows a virtual tie.
A noticeable gender gap continues to play a major role here; Romney enjoys a 10-point edge among male voters, but the president enjoys a 13 point edge among female voters. Independents give Romney the nod by 5 points. |
