After the Ohio legislature passed, on a close to party line vote, a controversial election reform bill, Democrats went about the work of collecting more than 300 thousand valid signatures from voters to put the issue on the ballot this November.  Now, months after that’s happened, majority Republicans in the Ohio Senate have voted to repeal the law….over the objection of Democrats.  Senator Keith Faber says Democrats are bent on using this issue to drive their voters to the polls. 

Faber: "One of the funniest quotes I’ve ever heard by Gregg Schultz….Obama for America and Ohio State Director.   'Instead of giving Ohio voters the chance to reject 194 in November, they want to repeal the law.' Why yes. We are doing exactly what you asked us to do"

But Democratic Senator Nina Turner says Republicans were asked to do that months ago, before the issue was put before Ohio voters.  And now that it is on the ballot, Turner says voters should decide the fate of the law.  She says Republicans are trying to take away the right of Ohioans to vote on the law.

Turner: "So lest we forget how far we’ve come in this country and the state that the suppression of the vote is wrong all day long."

Now it will be up to the Republican dominated Ohio house to take a stand on the bill to repeal the law.
