News That Didn't Make The News

Reported by Bill Stewart

Bill Stewart is a 25 year veteran of radio and currently works as a fill-in/weekend personality and newsman for Cumulus Media. He does weekly shows on Oldies 93.5 and Star 105.5 in Toledo. He also fills in doing morning drive news for 5 of the Cumulus radio stations. Bill retired in the late 90's due to health reasons but desires to get back into the business he loves full-time (however, Amish blacksmith jobs are rare, and besides, he's not trained in that work, he just loves it). Bill worked as a radio personality and program director in such markets as Toledo, Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bill is a past nominee as "Radio Personality of the Year" by Billboard magazine. Bill, whose legal name is Stew Wilkins, is a brother to the late Wild Bill Wilkins of Cleveland radio infamy. Bill also is a staff writer for the Toledo Free Press and writes a weekly "Media Watch" column covering Toledo radio and tv news. www.toledofreepress.com Bill lives in Perrysburg, Ohio, a Toledo suburb, with his wife of 33 years, Mary, his dog Emmy, and two of their 3 children. Bill is a lifelong runner and was just awarded his Nidan (second degree Black Belt) in the Japanese Martial Art of Aikido. His hobbies include weightlifting, astrology, writing, and creating obscene jello molds.
