Christopher Bell
9:00pm
Admission - Free
Bela Dubby
13321 Madison Ave
Lakewood, OH 44107
On July 3rd Christopher Bell will be playing at the Bela Dubby in Lakewood, OH at 9:00 pm. This is the second in a series of seven shows on his ten day, 500 mile bike tour to Indianapolis, IN.
Originally planned as a two man trip, his touring partner broke his wrist a week before they were to leave. Not one to give up, Bell decided to continue on alone. Armed with a garage sale Casio keyboard, a viola and a looping pedal, this multi-instrumentalist brings his brand of indie folk to the midwest on this eco-friendly, economically driven tour.
Starting in his hometown of Jamestown, NY Bell will travel about 45-60 miles a day until his goal of Indianapolis on July 10th. This isn't the first time he has taken a different approach to touring. Last year he canoed 550 miles from Buffalo to New York City on the Erie Canal and Hudson River, a feat that landed him on the pages of the NY Times, NPR, and CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.

Tickets are $15.adv/17. dos  9PM Beachland Ballroom
Over the clatter of piano and strum of an electric guitar that opens his fourth studio album, Josh Ritter leaps into rapid-fire lyrics that reference Joan of Arc, Calamity Jane and Florence Nightingale, all of whom seem to be stuck together in the belly of a whale. As the follow-up to last year's critically-acclaimed album The Animal Years, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter is his most adventurous, fresh, and freewheeling work to date.

MICK TAYLOR

A rock and blues guitarist, much influenced by B.B. King, Muddy Waters and jazz saxophone giant John Coltrane, Taylor taught himself to play after leaving school at 15. His first band, the Welwyn Garden City-based Gods, also featured Ken Hensley (later of Uriah Heep) and John Glascock (later of Jethro Tull). In August 1965, Taylor deputized for absentee Eric Clapton in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and joined the band on a permanent basis from June 1967.

7 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS+ AN ANIMATED APPEARANCE ON "THE SIMPSONS" IN 2004 Brave Combo. Rarely, if ever, has a band name been more apropos, not only at the group's inception, but even more so 29 years after the fact. At first glance, back in 1979, the Denton, Texas, based outfit was, in shorthand, pegged as a New Wave polka band, a courageous if not almost oxymoronic endeavor during that particular rebirth of the cool. Yet it clicked and launched a stunning run that has now catapulted it into the new century.

Diomande's 3rd annual West African Celebration
Sogbety Diomande's West African Celebration
On Friday night to kick off the weekend, Keshvar Project will put on an amazing performance with Middle Eastern musicians and belly dancers!! Many of you remember when Highlands of Ohio brought Gaiananda to the Opera House in Bellville back in 2005. Keshvar Project is the same group with new dance numbers and fabulous costumes. This will be a night to remember. There will be an African dance class after the performance and late night campfires.
Saturday there will be 2 African dance classes and 2 drum classes, a belly dance class, African food, vendors, kids classes and activities all day, and then a big West African performance with master dancers and drummers at 9pm followed by late night campfires.
Sunday will start with a djembe class, kids crafts, brunch with African food and will end with a large dance class led by Vado Diomande. This class becomes quite a performance.
