As the air turns crisp and the streets are filled with glitter and holly, WKSU opens the box of holiday music and adds special programming to make spirits light. WKSU and FolkAlley.com Holiday Programming begins Dec. 1 with seasonal music streams online. On Monday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. celebrate with NPR's Susan Stamberg and Murray Horwitz and the annual installment of Hanukkah Lights. The following week, special programs air each evening at 8 p.m. following Q with Jian Ghomeshi - including holiday-themed editions of weekend folk music with Jim Blum.
Mark Christmas Eve with the traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, featuring the choirs of Kings College at Cambridge, at 10 a.m. Enjoy your Christmas Day with Classical music all day - including Handel's Messiah. Make WKSU or Folk Alley part of your celebration by streaming music from your computer or mobile device wherever you go.
Programming continues with the Kwanzaa-centric A Season's Griot on Dec. 26 and the New Year's Day concert live from the Musikverein in Vienna, where Franz Welser-Most once again helms the podium. A downloadable copy of the full schedule will be available by Dec. 1.
