The 34th Cleveland International Film Festival - March 18-28
The 34th Cleveland International Film Festival returns the best in independent and international films to Tower City Cinemas on March 18 through 28. Last year the Cleveland International Film Festival posted its best attendance ever. A slouching economy couldn't dampen the spirits of film lovers whose numbers swelled to more than 66,000. In 2010, the CIFF is hoping for more of the same as they present an exciting menu of documentary, feature, and short length films. Close to 100 film makers and other special guests will also be in attendance to introduce their screenings, discuss their work, and participate in panels that give audience members a chance to dialog about the films they've seen.
There is free parking with validation for those parking in the Tower City garage and discounted rates for the connected hotels are available. Please note that the Huron Rd. entrance to the parking lot is closed. Click here for directions and a map.
By using the code "WKSU," station members can receive a $2 discount on their CIFF tickets (good for any Festival film except special events - including the open and closing galas - additional restrictions may apply). Find more information online at www.ClevelandFilm.org.
In addition to the main World Tour program, the CIFF offers sidebars – films tied together by themes that include American Independents, Documentaries, Eastern European films, 10% Cinema (lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender films), Family Films, Midnight Snacks (bizarre and unusual films), Local Heroes (works by local filmmakers) and many others. Patrons can vote on the feature films they see to determine the recipient of the Roxanne T. Mueller Award (the internationally recognized CIFF audience choice award).
Program Guides will be available in late February and ticket sales will also begin at that time. Tickets go on sale to members only on February 26th — one week before they go on sale to the general public on March 5th.
