Mark the nation's most patriotic holiday with music and flag waving. From Wooster and Canton to Cleveland, Kent and Akron, Northeast Ohio celebrates the Independence Day holiday with a variety of concerts featuring Classical, Jazz and Folk artists performing under exploding pyrotechnic displays. Most events are free and are suitable for all ages and may be especially appreciated by lovers of Sousa marches and Tchaikovsky's anthemic 1812 overture.
The Cleveland Orchestra - A Star Spangled Spectacular

Loras John Schissel leads the Cleveland Orchestra in its annual salute to America. Before the Orchestra performs, enjoy a celebration of art and music - including an arts festival at Tower City and performances by the 7 Mile Isle Steel Drum Band and Bill Ransom's jazz quintet. The evening ends with Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture and fireworks (weather permitting).

Canton Symphony Orchestra - Concert in the Park

The 10th anniversary of this annual tribute to the Grateful Dead featuring the Dark Star Orchestra and friends. On the list of musicians for this 4-day (5 if you come to the early bird concerts on Thursday night) extravaganza: Keller Williams, Crazy Engine, Jemimah Puddleduck, New Riders of the Purple Sage and late night bluegrass. There will also be fireworks, skydivers, magicians, clowns, food and vendors. Camping is available.

The 3-day music and barbecue fest kicks off with Rock 'n' Ribs on Thursday and Friday featuring The Machine (Pink Floyd tribute band) and Satisfaction (Rolling Stones tribute band). On Saturday, music starts early with the University of Akron Steel Drum Band, followed by Mo Mojo and the Rebirth Brass Band from New Orleans. No food or beverage may be brought in - but there will be more than enough ribs to chow down.
