U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan speaks on Jan. 26 at a luncheon sponsored by the Akron Press Club at the University of Akron's Martin Center, 105 Fir Hill.

Ryan, D-Niles, who is starting his third term in the House, was recently appointed to the Appropriations Committee. He also serves on the Armed Services Committee and the Education and Workforce Committee and co-chairs the House Manufacturing Caucus.












Akron Beacon Journal Publisher Edward R. Moss

The Akron Press Club presented a program with Akron Beacon Journal publisher Edward R. Moss on Friday, Dec. 15 at the Martin Center at the University of Akron.

Moss joined the Beacon Journal in August of 2006, replacing James N. Crutchfield, who had been of the paper since April, 2001.

Moss was named to the position by David Black, president of Black Press Ltd. and its subsidiary Sound Publishing Holdings Inc., which purchased the newspaper that same month.

Before joining the Beacon Journal, Moss was vice president of sales and marketing for Media General, based in Richmond, Va. That company owns 25 daily and 100 weekly newspapers, including the Tampa Tribune and the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He has also been a publisher of newspapers in California, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and Michigan.
