James D. Smith
Senior Sales Associate, Underwriting

James D. Smith

James (JD) Smith entered the doors of WKSU with 21 years of commercial radio sales experience at several stations, including  CBS Radio (Pittsburgh and Cleveland), Clear Channel (Pittsburgh and Akron-Canton) and WNWV Smooth Jazz in Cleveland. He specializes in radio sales (on-air, streaming, and digital) and in NTR (non-traditional revenue). Although he has had all of his prior experience in commercial radio, his personal radio dial has always been tuned to an NPR station. A self-proclaimed "news freak," James loves WKSU because the news programming is in-depth, balanced and straightforward, giving listeners the opportunity to draw their own conclusions  on contemporary issues.   He is eager to show prospective Northeast Ohio clients not only the wisdom of supporting public broadcasting at WKSU, but also how that support could be beneficial to their company.

A Pittsburgh native holding a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Pittsburgh, James is a self-proclaimed lifelong Steeler fan (win or lose) as well as a lover of jazz, fast cars, sport bikes and cruising the Caribbean with his wife, Linda.  James currently calls Munroe Falls, Ohio, home.
