Sylvia Docking
Announcer/Producer/Music Programmer; host of afternoon Classical Music
“It’s been five years since we announcer types submitted bios for our webpage and frankly I was hard pressed to submit one simply because I felt that not a whole lot had changed in my life. I, of course, am older, and I really hope somewhat wiser...I also have a lot more grey hair. I like to tell people that I don’t color my hair, I let God do it!
My ‘new look’ is primarily the result of living with a parent in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. As many of you already know, that can be a huge challenge. But, I consider myself blessed. I have the best Mama I could have had, a super sister, nieces and nephew, wonderful friends, a great church family at Lee Heights Community (Mennonite) Church, and a terrific bunch of coworkers at WKSU!
My job here at 89.7—from editing the music logs and researching material for use on the air to meeting you at various community events—is really the icing on a beautiful cake and the cherry on top!
As I continue in my fifteenth year at WKSU, the joy of bringing you classical music on the radio is all mine! Thank you for your support and thank you for the privilege of playing this music on 89.7. To borrow a phrase from the old Peter Paul candy bar commercials...Music that’s ‘indescribably delicious!’”
