WKSU was recognized with 14 awards from Ohio Professional Writers, Inc., the state affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), April 29 in Port Clinton during the organization's annual spring convention. WKSU staff members were honored with seven first-place awards, which are now automatically entered into the national Communications Contest sponsored by NFPW.

First place awards went to:
Radio Broadcast Categories:
•On-the-scene Spot Report, Reporter/Producer Julie Grant for "Tuscarawas County Flooding"

•Prepared Report, Reporter/Producer Vivian Goodman for "Amusement Park Memories"

•Special Programming, Goodman and Mark Urycki for "The Aging Boom"

•Interview, Goodman for "David Roth"

Marketing/Public Information Categories:

•Magazine Campaign – One subject, Public Relations Director Bob Burford and Marcus Thomas LLC for "WKSU Brand Campaign"

•Annual Report, external, Director of Communications Pamela R. Anderson and yDesign for "WKSU Annual Report 2004-2005"

Anderson also received a first place award for Creative Verse.

Other awards were presented to:
•Goodman and Urycki for "On Tour with The Cleveland Orchestra"

•Marketing Associate Ann VerWiebe for "Folk Alley Chat"

•Burford and Marcus Thomas for "Radios On! Campaign"

•Burford and Marcus Thomas for "39th Kent State Folk Festival"

•Grant for "Paw Paw Festival"

•VerWiebe for "Dave Pignanelli to Lead WKSU Newsroom"

•VerWiebe for "WKSU Goes Online with WKSU-2 and WKSU-3"

WKSU broadcasts NPR & Classical Music at 89.7 FM, and is a service of Kent State University. WKSU programming is also heard on WKRW 89.3 FM in Wooster, WKRJ 91.5 FM in Dover/New Philadelphia, WKSV 89.1 FM in Thompson, WNRK 90.7 in Norwalk, W298BA 107.5 FM in Boardman, and W239AZ 95.7 FM in Ashland.
