WKSU FEATURES AREA ARTS AND CULTURE IN HOT PICKS
NEW ONLINE SERVICE OFFERS WEEKLY CHOICES FOR FUN IN NE OHIO
Monday August 15, 2005

WKSU is shining a spotlight on events that make Northeast Ohio special with the addition of Hot Picks to the station's web site at www.wksu.org. Hot Picks is a week's worth of concerts, exhibits, lectures, festivals, games, and more that stand out from the crowded entertainment landscape in the area. From Canton and Wooster to Akron and Cleveland, Northeast Ohio is home to a range of exciting venues, sports teams, community happenings and cultural organizations. Updated every Monday, Hot Picks brings together a short list of the unusual and outstanding taking place each week throughout WKSU’s 22-county coverage area.

Choices for Hot Picks will be gathered by WKSU's Public Relations Department from a variety of sources, including suggestions from station listeners that can be sent by E-mail to HotPicks@wksu.org. Staff will continually scout around for items, building lists that provide a mix of events that pique the interest of WKSU’s diverse regional audience.

WKSU General Manager Al Bartholet says, "During any given week, there are so many things to do in Northeast Ohio, it can be a bit mind-boggling. With Hot Picks, we can narrow down the list and shake out a manageable collection of fun events that deserve extra attention."

WKSU broadcasts NPR & Classical Music at 89.7 FM, and is a service of Kent State University. WKSU programming is also heard on WKRW 89.3 FM in Wooster, WKRJ 91.5 FM in Dover/New Philadelphia, WKSV 89.1 FM in Thompson and WNRK 90.7 FM in Norwalk. The WKSU web site is www.wksu.org.
