Clarke Fellowship · Graduate student scholarship program · Participant(s): Numerous members of WKSU staff Other activities designed to disseminate information as to employment opportunities to job candidates who might otherwise be unaware of such opportunities · WKSU participated in the on-campus Job Fair at Kent State University, located in the Student Multicultural Center · All hires are sent through the Kent State University Office of Affirmative Action for their review and approval Internship Program · WKSU is an annual host of a Senior Experience Program, where an area high school senior spends three weeks job shadowing. · WKSU hosted news department interns and an intern to work with the director of philanthropic giving. Participation in at least four events or programs sponsored by educational · Periodically through the year, WKSU staff members host middle and high school students for a day as a part of their school job experience curriculum. · Frequently WKSU staff members speak to classes at Kent State University Journalism School. · “J-Link” A link created between Kent State University Journalism School and WKSU to hire college students who are interested in broadcasting to work at WKSU while they are attending college. · Ohio Professional Writers, Inc. held its annual meeting at WKSU. The meeting was open to the public and included journalists, authors, photographers and other media professionals from across Ohio, as well as 7 high school journalists from the Columbus area who attended along with the advisor to their high school newspaper. OPW sponsors award programs for professionals, as well as high school and college journalists. State winners are entered in the NFPW”s national competitions. ·
